The ‘Heart failure module’ (part of the Applied or Clinical CVS manual) is designed to help the candidates understand this complex topic focusing on:
- pathophysiology, clinical presentation and management of heart failure,
- formulation of a systematic approach towards the pre-op evaluation and optimisation of patients; and
- the perioperative considerations surrounding the management of a patient with a history of heart failure posted for non-cardiac surgery.
The study material primarily concentrates on the most pertinent content for preparing post-graduate anaesthesia examinations, particularly the EDAIC/ FRCA/ FCAI exams.
